The interview

Or "I should really manage my time better."

So I had an interview yesterday. I had known I had an interview on Tuesday for most of last week. I thought it was for a call centre for some interweb based company. Then on Monday the agency who had got moi the interview called and said;
"Hi Rob, we have an interview for you tomorrow. Can you come see me?
"Yeah sure. Im coming to see you anyway about that internet thing"
"Oh. Yeah. They havent got back to me about that. Can I call you back in ten."
Ten minutes later..
"Hi Rob. The internet place said that they cant do interviews tomorrow. But there is one other place I can put you forward for tomorrow. Would you like me to get you an interview."
"Yeah sure"
So at the very last minute my entire preparation for an interview had gone out of the window as I was about to go for a completely different role.
So on the Tuesday morning I was a more then a little nervous.
But I think it went well. I was in there for 45 minutes. I had a good laugh, chat about the future and my plans and I had alot in common with the to interviewees (?) But now I have to wait until the end of this week, begining of next week to see if I do or dont have the job.
In the mean time though I have but my name forward for other interviews. And have accidentally booked myself in to two interviews an hour apart in different parts in Leeds. One job I wouldnt mind, with a phone company. The second I dont want, with a bank. So I reckon Ill be cancelling the 'bank' interview due to some 'emergency.'
I have one more interview today, over the phone and Im trying to set up at least another two over the next few days. All this not working is really hard work.

But other then not working, not having a job and not having an income, everything else about living up here is ace. I have a really good night out planned for Easter Sunday. Ill be playing out till very very late, so hopefuly Ill meet new people that night.
But all is good.

So, how is everybody else?

The Interweb

Or "I wonder if I can get to my email from w*rk"

So a week is a long thing without the interweb. Im just running through my emails and I've missed a few job opportunitys, arse. And I havent been able to check in on you guys.
My life has been pretty busy, so Ill give you a little run down of things.

Thursday
Well I had my double interview planned as reported in an earlier post. The first was at a phone company, the second was at a bank. Basically I had the first interview at 10, then an hours space to have interview, see agency about "how I feel it went," before catching a bus to a office I had no clue of it's location. Plus it was more of an assesment then an interview and would last up to 3 hours, which I really couldn't be arsed doing.
Like I say, I really don't want a job in a bank so when I got up on the Thursday I was immediately thinking that I wanted to call and cancel that interview. Purely on the basis that "I had personal problems." This fake excuse would give moi the opportunity to rebook my interview.
As I got to the agency just before my first interview I was chatting away with the the consultant who got moi the interview. She mentioned nothing about the job I was being interviewed for, except that the interview was at 10 and it was a customer service role. I admitted through the interview that I hadnt a clue about the job but try to highlight my strengths for the role. After about 30 minutes I left the building and headed up to the agency to let them know how it went. I wasn't too sure about the interview. Mainly due to the fact that I was not prepared for it, but other then that I thought I did ok. By time I made the 5 minute walk from the offices to the agency the consultant informed moi as I walked through the door that they have offered moi the job. Yesssss. I was quite shocked by this, but thankful that I now have a job. Which I start on Tuesday. Fingers crossed that I will get access to email. Pleeeeeeease!
Thursday PM, I decided to accept the housemates previous nights invites for drinks. I had a good enough reason to celebrate so I hit some funk bar 'Sela' in the city centre. Met some lovely peeps, hopefully Ill see them again soon. I bumped in to a few lovely ladies and exchanged numbers. Im having far too much luck here. Although it is getting a little reckless ;-)

Friday
Friday I did a little recovering and had another night out with one of the housemates. I met up with a few other different people, who seem like the right kind of peeps to go out clubbing with. As I found out a few days later.
But I was on good behaviour and I seen an advert for staff hiring in the local. Im wondering to go in for an application form. Itll mean extra cash plus I get to meet more locals. Except that when I was in there on the Friday night it was a little too chav/rough.

I spent Saturday doing very little.

Sunday
I had a night of clubbing planned. The DJ's kicked off at 9pm and the last fucked clubbers departed the venue at 6am. Ruth, one of my housemates, was planning on staying out all night. So I had to get used to the idea of playing out until 6am. Other news this weekend informed moi that my mum was coming to visit on the Monday, so I'd be getting to bed for 630 and getting up for mum at 12. I havent had a night like this in quite some time.
A pre party featuring karaoke on the playstation was the way to warm up things. I met the same people from Friday night. They seem like a really good bunch and I got along really well with them. But in true moirob fashion I decided the best course of action for the next 9 hours was not too stay with people I already knew, but to wonder about meeting other clubbers. So I went for a wonder.
A no searching policy they had at the doors ment that everyone in there was pilled up. There were a good few gurners and I sure did enjoy the atmosphere.
I met some more lovely people and had quite a few good random chats. There may even be some photos online somewhere of moi and the housemates throwing some shapes. If I find them Ill make sure to let you know.
Again I met a few girls and exchanged numbers, luckily thought for moi this time the girls I met actually live in Leeds and have offered to show moi round. Obviously they wont be doing this at the same time.
As the night faded and the morning crept over, the dance floor emptied until only a handfull of hardcore ravers were left. I like to put myself in the same group, although my excuse was I was waiting on the housemate otherwise Id of left hours earlier.
I eventually made it home just after 6 when I text my mum to let her know to call and wake moi up and she told moi off for "only just getting in."

Today, after a 6 hour sleep I felt pretty good and healthy after last nights shenanigans. I met up with my mum for dinner and scoffed down the whole lot after not eating and plenty of excersize in the last few hours. It also felt good having her visit and seeing that Im doing really well and loving it here. But also she brought moi her laptop for moi to borrow till I can get my own which means I can now reach you guys and gals again yesssssss.

So tomorrow brings a whole new chapter. 'The Employed Moi.' Im looking forward to it. And Im looking forward to finally buying a bed so I dont have to sleep in a hammock any more yesssssss.
Anyway dudes and dudettes. I hope your all well. I sure am. ;-)

The Audio

Or "Not all change can be good."

So I'm considering popping in to a record store tomorrow on my way to work to buy Exit Music:Songs with Radio Heads. I saw it in the stores a few days ago, but due to unemployment I've not been able to purchase it. Although that has now changed. The only problem with having a phone/mp3 player is it's inabilty to play CD's. Maybe I should wait to pick it up on the way home? But I have been spending the last 2 hours copying The Mighty Boosh radio series from CD to my phone and Im looking forward to listening to that as I havent heard anything of it. Except that I will be listening to one of my favourite and funniest shows ever in public places. Which may cause moi to laugh uncontrolably. I wonder if people will understand?

The Job

Or "Audio comedy series should not be listened to on public transport."

So I started my first day today.
Before I made it to work, I decided it'd be a good idea to listen to the Mighty Boosh on the way in as this would put moi in a good mood...well an even betterer gooderer mood then what I am currently in. This proved to be disastrous. I was laughing quite a bit up to the bus stop. Then on the bus scrushcing my face up like I was sucking a lemon and clenching my entire body was the only thing I could do to stop myself from laughing out DEAD LOUD. I think I may of even scared a few people on the bottom deck to with my crazy scrunched up face.

Work was basically an induction. It was dead boring but they have to be done. The last hour I spent with my new team where I learned that, Ill be working in a help/service desk for libraries/prisons/other government type things based in Kent. Maybe I should go see Kent and what else is down there. Anyone any ideas? ;-)
I was also told that as long as my work is done and I use it responsibly I can play around on the interweb. Yessssss!

And whats even better is I started working with some guy who has well great hair told moi to take his number and he'll show moi some good places to go for a hair chopping. Im nearly as good as getting men's numbers as I am with the ladies Yesssssssssssssss

Keep it realy folks!

The Turtle

Or "I'd hate to meet an angry crustacean in a darkened kiosk."

Well today was my first day of proper training. I and the other lad, Dharmesh spent about 7 hours watching the girl, who is leaving, work. This wasn't too exciting. But I got a glimpse at the type of stuff I'll be doing and it seems pretty straight forward. As long as I am well organised everything else is pretty much done for moi. And there were some large gaps in the time were we did nothing at all, which I suppose will give moi loads of time to email. Yessssss.
Only downside with this place is that as it isn't like a proper call centre the team like I say is very small. Moi and Dharmesh are looking after problems with Kent County Council and thats us. That team. Right there. Very little. Innit!
The rest of the team don't seem like they really do much out side of work together. All though I will be trying to get that changed. A few indie nights out in the student area of Headingly (spelling??) to a night at a club that is run by one of the guys I work with should be top of the list. Also top is to find out if the stunningly fit girl who sits opposite moi is single ;-)
Although at the moment Im not doing as good as I though with the ladies. Even though I got a few numbers the one girl that I am keen on hasnt replied to moi yet. Frustratingly thats despite her showing a really interest in moi. Arse.

But not all is bad today. I got a text of my old house mate Geraldine saying simple
"I've found raphiella!"
For those who dont remember/dont know, Raphiella was a small tutrle that Gerri owned, she smuggled it in from some island. She loved it lots and it was very cute. There is even a photo somewhere on my blog of it. At the end of the summer of ninety five, one day Gerri left teh back door open when on the phone with her mum. Raphiella escaped out of the door and ran away. Gerri was really upset and had to inform her ex who was very cross with Gerri. Gerri was feeling even more upset. She and myself spent many hours on the first day searching the garden for Raphiella but couldn't find her. Gerri spent a few days after then just quickly looking through the back garden seeing if she could find her. But she couldn't.
I received that text when I switched my phone on coming out of work. I asked her about the text and she was so happy and told moi that she found Raphiella in the garden under a wheel barrow where she had been hibernating all winter. And apperently Raphiella is now back inside walking around the living room floor getting stuck under chairs again. Yesssssssss!

Welcome back Raphiella.

The wait

Or "This one is just for the sake of it."

Cant think of why I'm writing. Possibly boredom. I'm feeling quite low of late. This is all down to one girl. Which is really annoying.
I've realised that although work is going to be easy and will earn moi a wage it isn't going to be a place where I can meet alot of new people. I don't have too much to look forward to over the next few weeks as I save up for bed/laptop and pay off the few debts I owe, thanks to bills/V tickets.
I do have friends visiting this weekend though that I'm looking forward to seeing.

But I think the honeymoon could be over.

The Haircut

Or "Things turn out for the worse again!"

Well my philosophy on stylists is the best ones will always be found while your out partying.

I've needed my haircut for sometime. With a wage in one hand and spare time in the other I decided to head over to one of those city centre hair stylist's for a new look.
I was booked in and headed to the venue after work. When I arrived I had a quick scan through Esquire to pass the time. Checked out if there was anything I liked in there.
Some bald guy then approached moi and invited moi over to the chair. I was a bit shocked at first as I hate having my hair cut by bald/shaven head people. I mean they are supposed to be stylists and yet this is the best they can do for themselves.
Well I was seated and was asked "what would you like?"
"What can you recommend?" I replied.
"Huh?"
"What can you recommend?" I repeated. I think the accent was a little too much for him.
"..." He then starts to look around my head and slowly thinking up what he would like for his lunch. Seeing as my request for him to recommend a style I decided to interupt his deep thinking.
"How about Steve Jones then. Like his."
"Huh?"
*Oh this is going to be long* "Pass moi Esquire magazine."
He then starts rooting around the 4 magazines on the table and looks up at moi puzzled.
"Esquire. Its white."
"Oh"
He then walks over and I flick through to the page with Steve Jones on and point out.
"Like his please."
"Okay." He then studies the photo for a few minutes and walks off and returns.
Now I haven't had much luck with hair stylists. Luckily the other day while trying to find some remote pub to meet a friend a came acorss a fancy hair place. With a imaginative and creative name, prices were £17 for a cut and "starting from £21" for a stylist. I figured maybe next time Ill head there and see the big stylist. Maybe this is the first thing I've regretted since moving to Leeds.
There is a point where, when I'm getting my hair cut I know that it isn't going to work out. I'll be unhappy with the cut, yet I'll say "Yeah looks good" the the stylist, but will have to make do with what I have been left with and try to somehow make it work.
I got to this point quite quickly with this hair dresser. I resigned to the fact that in teh next 20 minutes Ill be walking out the door with a cut I hate and a hole in my pocket.
"Is that ok?" the stylist says at the end.
"Yeah thats good," I lie.
Just once I'd love to turn around and say, "Does my hair look anything like that in the magazine?"

A few more weeks maybe a month or two and I can head over to the next Box Creative Hairdressing and fork out a bit more and for once be satisified at the fingers of a stylist.

Ah Seniór here forgot to mention. Hed Kandi are visiting the local Discotheque in May. Of course the first three letters of mayhem are M, A and Y. Obviously this can only be a sign for moi to go out and rekindle my love for Leeds.
